1. Provide oversight for TAPA’s official election.

2. Prepare election announcements and solicit candidates for TAPA elections.

3. Plan election procedures that are consistent with TAPA Bylaws and Policies.

Have you ever had a desire to serve on the TAPA Board of Directors?

Now is your chance to become involved in your profession and serve on the board of your Academy!

In the upcoming general election to be held this spring, there are several openings on the TAPA Board of Directors. The qualifications and duties for each office are listed below.

NOTE: All candidates for the following offices must be current Fellow Members of TAPA and AAPA.

President-Elect
3 Year Term

The President Elect shall assume the duties of the President in his/her absence and succeed to the office of President should that office become vacant. This position is a 3 year term, with
the 1st year as President Elect, 2nd year as President, and 3rd year as Immediate Past President. Duties will be assigned by the TAPA President as per policy.

Candidates for President Elect MUST have 1 year of TAPA Board experience in any elected and/or committee chair position prior to declaration of candidacy.

Vice President
2 Year Term

Candidate must be a TAPA member in good standing with one year experience in a leadership role in any organization.

Duties: The Vice President shall assume the duties of the President Elect in his/her absence and shall perform other duties as assigned by the President or the board. In addition, the Vice President shall serve as the Parliamentarian and Sergeant of Arms of the Board to include compliance of bylaws and policies
and procedures. This responsibility includes a TAPA bylaws annual review to insure compliance with AAPA requirements.

Treasurer
2 Year Term

Candidate must have at least one year experience in a leadership role in any organization.

Duties: The Treasurer shall be responsible for adequate and proper accounts of the properties and funds of TAPA. A report on current TAPA financial status will be presented at each board meeting. He/she shall give a full report at the annual membership meeting. The Treasurer shall deposit or call to deposit all monies and other valuables in the name and to the credit of TAPA with such depositories as may be designated by the Board. He/she shall disburse the funds of TAPA as may be ordered by the Board, shall render to the Board, whenever it may request it, an account of his/her transactions as Treasurer and the financial condition of TAPA. Another duty is development of an annual budget to be presented to the BOD for approval. The Treasurer shall have other such powers and perform other duties as assigned by the President or the Board.

Director at Large
2 Year Term (2 positions)

Candidate is encouraged to have at least one year experience in a leadership role in any organization.

Duties: The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the implementation of policies concerning the property, business and affairs of TAPA. Each director may serve as an assigned committee advisor or committee chair as appointed by the President and approved by the board.

Delegate for the AAPA House of Delegates
2 Year Term (4 positions)

Candidates are encouraged to have experience in parliamentary procedure.

Duties: Serve as a Texas Delegate in the annual AAPA HOD meeting held in late May and early June. You will discuss, debate and vote on proposed bylaws and policy and procedure changes/additions of the AAPA.

TAPA will fund delegates to the AAPA annual HOD. Reimbursement for TAPA delegates to the AAPA HOD shall be according to current TAPA Policy.
